Kashmir Tourism : Travel to Kashmir ban Uplifted

After months of ban imposed on Kashmir Tourism government has now uplifted the ban. People from the country can now travel to the valley to enjoy snowy winter.


Revoking Article 370 which gave the Kashmir a special status had brought situation to unrest in the valley so the GOI had to shut tourism until situation gets to normal.

In a meeting with the chief secretary and advisory called “situation – cum – security review” Governor Satya Pal Maulick made an announcement to lift the ban on Kashmir Tourism.

So Why Was The Ban Imposed?

After Revoking Article 370 the GOI had withdrawn the valley’s special status and made it into a Union Territory. This decision was not welcomed by the separatist leaders. In order to maintain the law and order Government had asked the state to put a temporary ban until situation gets to normal. Due to this many pilgrims of the Amernath Yatra were stranded. The locals were distressed as they livelihood was affected with limited access to commodities and medicines.

According to the intelligence terror attacks were suspected from Pakistan and militants groups so to ensure the safety of the civilian this ban for put forth.

A student from Shri Pratap College who had visited his college during the ban shared his experience he said, I came here to get the study material and not to attend the classes. The teachers told us that the classes could only start once the situation becomes normal”.


So The Main Question arises is it Safe To Travel Kashmir?

Well the answer is different for different individual. It depends upon the experiences people had during their travel to the valley. So far the people who have visited recently did not experience any unpleasant situation. Locals seems to be helpful and arranging things for tourist comfort. Yes you will surely see large number of security personal than usual but that off course to ensure safety.

The only unpleasant you might have is the traffic since many would be rushing towards the valley as it an Union Territory now.
